The obligation to return others’ property is rooted in human morality, which is ultimately linked to the foundation of economic activity. A wise person advises us not to hold grudges against anyone in our lives. This is because if I foster a grudge, even if it’s physically disconnected from each other, that grudge will eventually interfere with my life. Blessings and grudges also operate beyond my time. It’s just problematic because it doesn’t align with the timing I desire, and our lives are intertwined with an inevitable fate that transcends time in this way.
