Compared to the era of a self-sufficient barter economy, everyone’s happiness is greater in the exchange economy, where each person divides their labor into what they do best and exchanges what they produce. This is because the division of labor is more efficient than self-sufficiency in productivity and can further reduce production costs. At this point, a means of exchange agreed upon by society is required, which is called money (currency). In other words, in the exchange economy, specialists who excel in one field are more advantageous for survival than ordinary people. An all-round player is more likely to face starvation. Therefore, a generalist is only advantageous for survival when they can organically integrate their diverse abilities in a specific field or situation, while also managing and restricting the scope of their activities and conditions. - Joseph’s “just my thoughts”

One of the principles prevailing in the natural world is that the stronger prey upon the weaker. The strong eat the weak. Thus, people seek strength. However, the statement that the stronger prey upon the weaker is partly correct and partly incorrect. The principle that survival of the fittest prevails in this world suggests that those who adapt survive. “Adaptation” is the strongest thing in the world. - Joseph’s “just my thoughts”

Weakness is merely another expression of strength and represents a phenomenon where the same attribute manifests in different forms. In other words, the concept of “weak or strong” resembles both ends of a seesaw; when one side goes down, the other always rises. When an issue arises in one muscle of the body, the surrounding muscles take over that role, or several muscles work together to compensate for the weakness. Rather than focusing solely on the end of the seesaw that has dropped, one should also acknowledge the opposing side that has risen as a result. Weakness and strength are states of being, not conclusions or outcomes. The same applies to successes and failures. - Joseph’s “just my thoughts”

No individuals achieve greatness merely by improving their weaknesses; on the contrary, many become great despite their disadvantages. Despite their shortcomings, achieving greatness results from focusing on core strengths. Emphasizing strengths can be a more effective approach than simply managing weaknesses. However, individuals with fewer foundational skills often view the lack of basic skills as a weakness; this perception is an illusion. Those without a solid foundation struggle to understand their weaknesses or strengths, making any effort seem pointless. Return to the fundamentals. If a professional manager cannot comprehend financial balance sheets, it would be like watching a circus for blind management. - Joseph’s “just my thoughts”

The ‘halo effect’ refers to the error of evaluating a person based solely on one strength. This mistake arises from our human tendency to see only what we want to see and to know only what we wish to know. People often regret choosing a smart but uncommitted individual once they realize they were attracted to that person’s intelligence after bringing them onto the team, ultimately leading to the wrong choice. This is an easy mistake to make, especially when the chosen person’s ability is particularly remarkable. When erroneous human resource decisions occur, businesses can fail. - Joseph’s “just my thoughts”

Sometimes, a person’s strengths are the cause of the problem. The situation determines the direction and use of nature. Each person has the advantage of knowing their strengths well, but it does not take into account the direction and circumstances surrounding those strengths. Strengths and weaknesses are relative concepts. Over-relying on your strengths can lead to issues, and it is also vital to be cautious of developing feelings of inferiority due to your weaknesses. - Joseph’s “just my thoughts”

Don’t try to win by crashing into someone charging at you; you’ll only hurt each other and win half the battle or less. Instead, if you sidestep and gently trip your opponent’s legs by hitching your foot, their own momentum will spell doom for them. Fighting isn’t about strength; rather, strength pertains to direction, not intensity. Righteousness comes from the art of effort, the wisdom of reading directions, and grasping situations. - Joseph’s “just my thoughts”
