Only when there is a surplus can new things be created. Surplus means having more than what is necessary. Creating something new requires an initial investment in advance. Whether it’s labor or capital—that is, whether labor is purchased with capital—energy can only be used for new work if there is a surplus. Only with prior investment can something entirely new, never seen before, be made. The existence of something that did not exist before in this world results from someone putting in their surplus first. - Joseph’s “just my thoughts”

When money interferes in a relationship, it changes the dynamic. Social norms and market rules come into conflict. For example, imagine a couple on a date, and when the man takes the woman home, he says, “I spent $100 on you today.” Suddenly, a romantic relationship shifts into a market transaction. Messages like “Next time, it’s your turn to pay” and “I did this for you today” appear. The benefits of social norms differ from those of market rules. Both are necessary, but the relationship is affected by when, how, and to whom they are applied. A person who fails to strike a balance between these two aspects risks damaging relationships and harming communities. - Joseph’s “just my thoughts”

Most of the time, experts are individuals who make a living by simplifying complex concepts. In other words, an expert serves as a commentator or interpreter. Positions that readily clarify intricate topics often exist in fields filled with conflict or dissatisfaction, as well as those that engage in productive activities. Lawyers and politicians represent the former category, while media professionals belong to the latter. The degrees of difficulty in complexity frequently create a demand for certain jobs, which also presents a business opportunity. - Joseph’s “just my thoughts”

We struggle a lot throughout our lives, caught between what we want to do and what we are good at. The moment these two coincide is the climax of our lives. Salmon die when they return to where they were born, after all. Our life is a fun journey to synchronize this conflict. Conflicts and worries are completely normal. Let’s cheer for myself as I wander in between! - Joseph’s “just my thoughts”

The world is structured so that when individuals can’t fulfill their needs alone, they each contribute their strengths. In essence, professionalism stems from choice, focus, and persistence. Highly talented individuals often face numerous internal barriers while striving to develop these qualities. This is the curse of talent, caused by the wide variety of available choices. When one engages in diverse activities and achieves success, rejection takes precedence over choice. Varied talents serve as the primary fuel for conflict. - Joseph’s “just my thoughts”
