There are two primary approaches to creating something: bottom-up design and top-down design . Top-down design is often seen in architecture. People do not build bricks randomly; instead, they follow the design drawings created by the architect. This method executes a plan that has already been established. When asked why something is built in a certain way, the answer is usually that the blueprint dictates its design. Conversely, bottom-up design does not start with a fixed goal, but rather involves setting and implementing small, actionable rules. For example, termite nests follow this approach. Small termites have a simple rule: to pile up soil. They do this without knowing the reason, but over time, the finished structure is remarkable and sophisticated. The appearance of the Sagrada Familia church , designed by Antoni Gaudí and still under construction, closely resembles a termite nest, differing only in size. Setting goals and planning is one way to create, but actual achievem...

When stating that prices have risen, it signifies that something else has decreased in price. If house prices are up by 10%, then something else indicates that the price is down by 10%. What is this “something else”? It is the value of money–a number derived from converting the value of an inflationary object into a currency. As the prices of goods increase, the value of money decreases correspondingly. If the object is compared in value to something other than currency, then something else that has increased in value compared to the object has depreciated in value. Most values are expressed in currency, so if the price of an object relative to currency rises, the value of the currency is relatively low. Therefore, if you receive cash from sales, wealth is created and preserved only when you exchange it for something else that is appreciating in value compared to cash. If you keep the cash intact, you will undoubtedly become poorer. Wealth is always a relative concept, not an absolute one.

At Berkshire Hathaway ’s 2013 shareholders’ meeting, Warren Buffett said, “I’ve owned 400 to 500 companies’ stocks in my lifetime, but only about 10 of them made the most money.” His lifelong friend and investment partner, Charlie Munger , added, “With the exception of some of Berkshire Hathaway’s best investment practices , long-term performance is near-average.” Many people know Warren Buffett’s return on investment better than his mistakes or failures. It’s because of those 10 companies that he succeeded in investing. If there is a positive, there must be a negative. It’s better to prepare a realistic alternative in case you fail than to try to avoid failing. Humans are probabilistic beings . - Joseph’s “just my thoughts”

What Truly Moves This World: Ostensibly, politics drives the world. But in reality, war, religion, and slavery are the true forces behind it. War redefines core values and shifts the balance of power in society. Naturally, power also plays a role. Even though the Roman Empire fell, the Christian Church has lasted over 2,000 years. Religion always exceeds politics. No slavery now? Even without an explicit system, slave-like traits and statuses still exist across society. Maybe this won’t disappear until the end of the world. War, religion, and slavery are fundamental to these economic systems and monetary policies . The flow of money and changes in the economic system can be understood through these three forces. - Joseph’s “just my thoughts”

Compared to the era of a self-sufficient barter economy , everyone’s happiness is greater in the exchange economy , where each person divides their labor into what they do best and exchanges what they produce. This is because the division of labor is more efficient than self-sufficiency in productivity and can further reduce production costs. At this point, a means of exchange agreed upon by society is required, which is called money (currency). In other words, in the exchange economy, specialists who excel in one field are more advantageous for survival than ordinary people. An all-round player is more likely to face starvation. Therefore, a generalist is only advantageous for survival when they can organically integrate their diverse abilities in a specific field or situation, while also managing and restricting the scope of their activities and conditions. - Joseph’s “just my thoughts”
