There are two primary approaches to creating something: bottom-up design and top-down design . Top-down design is often seen in architecture. People do not build bricks randomly; instead, they follow the design drawings created by the architect. This method executes a plan that has already been established. When asked why something is built in a certain way, the answer is usually that the blueprint dictates its design. Conversely, bottom-up design does not start with a fixed goal, but rather involves setting and implementing small, actionable rules. For example, termite nests follow this approach. Small termites have a simple rule: to pile up soil. They do this without knowing the reason, but over time, the finished structure is remarkable and sophisticated. The appearance of the Sagrada Familia church , designed by Antoni Gaudí and still under construction, closely resembles a termite nest, differing only in size. Setting goals and planning is one way to create, but actual achievem...

Most economic concerns are at the core of the conflict between the price of goods and the value of money. An increase in interest rates means a higher cost for borrowing money. This also causes the value of money to rise. Investors want to own an asset that will appreciate in value. They consider whether to buy a good or a currency. Investing in stocks means buying a company, while buying bonds means buying fiat currency. Most investors see these two concepts as corresponding concepts, not assets of the same nature. The proposition that money buys goods represents a very significant aspect of investing. If you want to invest well, you should get a hint from this proposition. Money appeared because of the convenience of exchanging goods, but in the world of investment, it always results in a confrontation between goods and money.

Compared to the era of a self-sufficient barter economy , everyone’s happiness is greater in the exchange economy , where each person divides their labor into what they do best and exchanges what they produce. This is because the division of labor is more efficient than self-sufficiency in productivity and can further reduce production costs. At this point, a means of exchange agreed upon by society is required, which is called money (currency). In other words, in the exchange economy, specialists who excel in one field are more advantageous for survival than ordinary people. An all-round player is more likely to face starvation. Therefore, a generalist is only advantageous for survival when they can organically integrate their diverse abilities in a specific field or situation, while also managing and restricting the scope of their activities and conditions. - Joseph’s “just my thoughts”

The most important aspect of investing is managing risk. However, in most cases, risk management is interpreted and assessed in relation to past patterns. When asset prices fall, the perceived risk appears significant. That doesn’t imply there weren’t risks; investors simply didn’t recognize the risks that originally existed. The level of risk is almost identical whether the price of an asset goes up or down, but when prices decline, they tend to drop further because fear prevents us from purchasing more assets, leading us to retreat. It’s not that the risk has escalated. It is unwise to link risk with past patterns. There have been numerous exceptions in the world, and many beings on this planet have disappeared because they could not adapt. Did dinosaurs not become extinct on Earth ? Exceptions are exceptions because they are unpredictable. - Joseph’s “just my thoughts”

At Berkshire Hathaway ’s 2013 shareholders’ meeting, Warren Buffett said, “I’ve owned 400 to 500 companies’ stocks in my lifetime, but only about 10 of them made the most money.” His lifelong friend and investment partner, Charlie Munger , added, “With the exception of some of Berkshire Hathaway’s best investment practices , long-term performance is near-average.” Many people know Warren Buffett’s return on investment better than his mistakes or failures. It’s because of those 10 companies that he succeeded in investing. If there is a positive, there must be a negative. It’s better to prepare a realistic alternative in case you fail than to try to avoid failing. Humans are probabilistic beings . - Joseph’s “just my thoughts”
