Adequacy : Moderate and appropriate nature. In the early days of the Roman Empire , Emperor Tiberius hosted a grand feast and invited an inventor. The inventor presented a glass as a gift, and the emperor inquired about its features. When the inventor claimed that the glass was unbreakable , the emperor dropped it on the floor. Only one side was dented, and the emperor touched that spot, restoring it to its original condition. Astonished, the emperor asked the inventor, “Have you ever taught anyone how to make this glass?” The inventor replied, “I did not tell anyone.” Then the emperor ordered his execution because if the recipe for the glass were known, the value of the emperor’s gold and silver treasures would plummet. No matter how excellent something is, it can be the worst depending on the situation and context. That’s why adequacy is essential. - Joseph’s “just my thoughts”

People recognize that perfection is a worthwhile trait, and everyone strives for it. However, humans cannot attain perfection, and we must admit that pursuing it can cause major setbacks. Imperfection and immaturity often make others more empathetic. No matter how excellent or meaningful something is, if a person rejects it, it won’t be helpful. The empty space in a picture provides us with relaxation and comfort. Nobody likes stress. Children are seen as adorable and lovable because their surroundings are spacious and clean. Emotions flow into empty space.

The most important aspect of investing is managing risk. However, in most cases, risk management is interpreted and assessed in relation to past patterns. When asset prices fall, the perceived risk appears significant. That doesn’t imply there weren’t risks; investors simply didn’t recognize the risks that originally existed. The level of risk is almost identical whether the price of an asset goes up or down, but when prices decline, they tend to drop further because fear prevents us from purchasing more assets, leading us to retreat. It’s not that the risk has escalated. It is unwise to link risk with past patterns. There have been numerous exceptions in the world, and many beings on this planet have disappeared because they could not adapt. Did dinosaurs not become extinct on Earth ? At Berkshire Hathaway ’s 2013 shareholders’ meeting, Warren Buffett said, “I’ve owned 400 to 500 companies’ stocks in my lifetime, but only about 10 of them made the most money.” His lifelong friend and investment partner, Charlie Munger , added, “With the exception of some of Berkshire Hathaway’s best investment practices , long-term performance is near-average.” Many people know Warren Buffett’s return on investment better than his mistakes or failures. It’s because of those 10 companies that he succeeded in investing. If there is a positive, there must be a negative.
